SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 20 state-ranked City College of San Francisco women's basketball team opened up a historic Friday night at Brad Duggan Court with an 82-53 rout of visiting Chabot College. The victory was career win No. 250 for Rams' head coach Derek Lau.
Five Rams scored in double-figures in the contest, with Jessie Chau leading the way with 21 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. June Lumumba had 14 points with 8 rebounds, Patriceia Walsh added 10 points and 7 assists, Alexis Cornejo chipped in with 10 points and 7 steals, while Taryn Nasol came off the bench to score 10 points.
The victory improved CCSF to 20-5 overall and 5-1 in the Coast Conference North Division standings. Lau, now in his 11th season as head coach at CCSF, is on the verge of capturing his 10th Coast Conference championship. His overall record now stands at 250-67 (.789 winning percentage) while his squads have won 20+ games in 10 of his 11 seasons.
The Rams close out the regular season with two more games next week. CCSF travels to College of San Mateo on Wednesday (Feb. 18) and hosts Foothill College next Friday (Feb. 20) at 5 p.m. in its regular-season home finale.
