SAN FRANCISCO – City College of San Francisco women's volleyball head coach Josh Jung earned his first career win with the program thanks to the Rams' marathon five-set victory over visiting Skyline College on Friday night.

CCSF won the back-and-forth battle by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-10, 21-25, 15-11.

It's been a tough opening season for Jung, who took over the program late this summer. He's in his second season with CCSF after serving as an assistant coach last year. With limited time to recruit, Jung put together an eager but somewhat inexperienced squad.

The Rams opened the season with 12 straight losses before Friday's triumph and had won just one set. But hours in practice and preparation finally paid off.

Freshman Jenny Chen paced the offense on Friday, leading CCSF with a season-high 9 kills to go along with 18 digs. Freshman Samyra Soun had a big match as well with 7 kills as well as a season-best 17 digs.

Freshman Emily Yee had a season-high 28 digs to lead the Rams' defense while freshman Maina Faituala posted a season-best 28 assists while adding 12 digs.

The Rams, now 1-12 overall and 1-1 in Coast Conference play, return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 22) to host College of San Mateo at 6:30 p.m. The "Pink Out" match will be a part of CCSF Athletics' Breast Cancer Awareness Week (Oct. 18-22).
