Since being appointed coach of the City College of San Francisco women's soccer team in 2016, Jeff Wilson has continued to lead the program to new heights. In his nine-year tenure (excluding the COVID year of 2020 when no games were played), his teams have a record of 134-37-18, Coast Conference League Titles in 2016, 2021 and 2023- 2025, and have qualified for the CCCAA playoffs every season, including trips to the Final Four in 2024 and the Elite 8 in 2023 and 2025. He has also been named Coast Conference Coach of the Year five times while helping over 45 student-athletes transfer to play at the next level. His teams have routinely finished the season ranked in the National top 20, including a #4 National Rank to close 2024. Under his leadership, the program has produced 7 All-Americans, 4 Scholar All-Americans, and the National Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2016.
As an alumnus of San Francisco State University and former men's soccer team member, Wilson began his coaching career in 1994 as an assistant coach for his alma mater. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory hired Wilson as an assistant soccer coach, full-time teacher, and counselor four years later. After becoming the varsity head coach in 2000, the Fighting Irish quickly became one of Northern California's top high school soccer programs winning four Central Coast Section titles in seven years. With over 200 career victories he is SHC’s winningest coach, the only coach to lead both the boys’ and girls’ teams to the CCS tournament, and a member of the Hall of Fame.
Coach Wilson’s resume also includes decades of coaching experience at both the adult and youth levels. At the adult level he helped lead Olympic Club to an Adult Soccer Association Men’s over 35 National Championship in 2015 and has held head and assistant positions in the Women’s Premier Soccer League with San Francisco Nighthawks and San Francisco Elite Academy. Additionally, he has a wealth of youth coaching experience, including time in the Girls Academy League teams with the San Francisco Glens and the Olympic Development Program as both a Cal North and West Regional Staff coach, where he has won numerous league and tournament titles, including NPL, San Diego Surf Cup, and the 2020 Regional Championship Title in Arizona with the 2004 Cal North ODP Girls’ team.
A full time Kinesiology Instructor at CCSF, his coaching credentials include the United States Soccer Federation “A Coaching License, National Youth “Y” License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, KNVB International Coaching Certificate, La Liga Formation Methodology Certificate – Levels 2 & 3, and an MA in Coaching and Athletic Administration.
