SANTA CLARA – Alexis Cornejo scored a season-high 28 points to help lead No. 12 state-ranked City College of San Francisco to a 77-57 Coast Conference interdivision win at Mission College on Wednesday night.
The Rams got off to a slow start and fell behind 12-7 after the opening quarter. But CCSF put up 30 points in a big second quarter to go out in front 37-26 at halftime, and poured it on with a 28-point outburst in the third to secure the win.
Cornejo knocked down 10 of 18 shots from the field and connected on eight three-pointers. Caelan De Vera added an efficient 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, while also contributing five steals.
Patriceia Walsh chipped in nine points and four assists, and Jessie Chau added five points and five steals. Stephanie Salazar anchored the defensive effort with eight rebounds and three blocks.
The Rams' bench provided solid support, led by Niaja Harris with seven points and June Lumumba with seven rebounds.
The win improved the Rams to 12-3 overall and extended their winning streak to four games. CCSF is back in action on Friday (Jan. 8) at 5 p.m. when it opens Coast Conference North Division play at home against Skyline College.
