No. 3 CCSF advances to regional final with 3-0 win over No. 6 Cosumnes River

SAN FRANCISCO – The City College of San Francisco women's soccer team is one win away from advancing to the state championships after the No. 3-seeded Rams defeated No. 6 Cosumnes River College by a final score of 3-0 at home on Tuesday in Round 3 of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

CCSF will now hit the road and travels to face No. 2 Sierra College in a regional final playoff game with a trip to the State Final 4 on the line. The fourth-round matchup against the Wolverines is set for Saturday (Nov. 29) at 2 p.m. in Rocklin.

On Tuesday, the Rams posted their sixth straight shutout and extended their unbeaten streak to 17 games with the victory over Cosumnes River. CCSF got first-half goals from Chemnui Simpson (39th minute) and Abigael Zennadi (45th) while D'Zeena Grewal closed the scoring and iced the victory with her goal in the 78th minute.

Bailey Perales totaled 4 saves in goal for the Rams to post the squad's 13th shutout of the season. CCSF takes a 17-2-2 overall record into Saturday's playoff game.

No. 2 Sierra was a 2-0 winner over No. 7 Fresno City College in Tuesday's third-round match to earn its spot in Saturday's regional final. Sierra opened its postseason run with a 4-0 victory against No. 15 San Joaquin Delta College in Round 2.

The Wolverines are 16-2-4 heading into this weekend's playoff match up.

CCSF and Sierra will be meeting for the second time in Rocklin this season. On Sep. 12, the Rams edged the Wolverines by a final score of 2-1. The winner of the contest advances to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 5 & 7 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. The Rams are looking to make their second straight trip to the state championships.
