SAN FRANCISCO – City College of San Francisco quarterback Darius Clark-James tossed 2 touchdowns and ran in for a pair of TDs to help lead the Rams to an impressive 48-28 victory over visiting Sierra College on Saturday at George M. Rush Stadium.
After opening with a 1-2 record, CCSF has now won back-to-back games as it heads into the bye week with a 3-2 overall mark at the regular season's halfway point.
The Rams faced a big 28-10 second-quarter deficit after Sierra got a 14-yard touchdown run at the 5:31 mark. But from that point, it was all City College.
CCSF got a 21-yard touchdown run by Michael Dabney with 2:05 to go in the second and closed out the half scoring on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Clark-James to Keion Goodwin with 5 seconds remaining. The Rams went into the break down 28-24 and carried that momentum into the second half.
The Rams put up 21 points in the third, getting rushing touchdowns from Clark-James (10 yards) and Zakarri Black (6 yards) as well as a 27-yard TD reception by Andre Watson from Clark-James.
Ryan Rodas knocked in his second field goal of the contest, a 24-yarder in the fourth quarter to close out an amazing 38-point scoring run by the Rams. Earlier in the game, he was good from 43 yards and Clark-James ran in from 5 yards out for CCSF's points in the first quarter.
The Rams put up a season-high 549 yards of offense in the game. Clark-James threw for 304 yards on 17 of 23 passing with a pair of TDs and no interceptions. He also ran 10 times for 59 yards and two scores.
Dabney led the Rams on the ground with 91 yards on 8 carries while JT Foreman added 76 yards over 17 rushes.
Jeremiah Nash put together a big game with 4 catches for 135 yards. Isaiah Kesihk had 5 receptions for 69 yards and Watson posted 2 catches for 42 yards.
The Rams' defense also did its part to shutdown Sierra in the second half. Sonny Vitale led with 9 tackles and had a sack. Mike Turner came up with 2 sacks to go along with 5 tackles while Kam'ron Bizor also had a sack with 2 tackles. Kalique Cheeves chipped in with an interception and 3 tackles.
CCSF is back in action on Oct. 11 when the Rams travel to San Jose City College for their National Bay 6 League opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
