SAN FRANCISCO — City College of San Francisco couldn't overcome a four-run deficit, falling to Chabot College 4-2 Friday at San Francisco State University's Maloney Field.
The Rams managed five hits but left seven runners on base and went scoreless through the first six innings against Chabot starter Edward Zacharia Said.
Sean Lee took the loss, pitching a complete game for CCSF but allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Chabot scored twice in the first inning on a two-run single by Luca Boccasile, added a run in the second on a Juan Pablo Manzo RBI single and extended the lead to 4-0 in the third on a solo home run by Terrell Scott-Romain.
San Francisco finally broke through in the seventh when Gio Ormando scored on a fielding error to make it 4-1. The Rams loaded the bases in the eighth on singles by Ryan Stamer and Rey Martinez, as well as a walk to Isac Mendoza. But Lee grounded into a double play, with only Stamer scoring.
CCSF could not push across the tying run in the ninth, going down in order to end the game.
Martinez led the Rams at the plate, going 2 for 4. Stamer and Ormando each scored a run.
The loss secured a three-game Coast Conference North Division sweep for Chabot. CCSF dropped to 1-24 overall and 0-6 in the Coast North. The Rams are back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 24) when they open a three-game conference series against Cañada College.
