NAPA — Despite a strong offensive showing and an early 5-0 lead, the City College of San Francisco Rams couldn't hang on, falling 7-6 to the Napa Valley College Storm in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
CCSF seized control early, scoring twice in the first inning and adding three more in the third, but a late rally by Napa Valley turned the tide in the seventh.
Sean Lee delivered a standout performance for the Rams at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, including the game-tying run in the seventh when he ripped an RBI single to give CCSF a brief 6-5 lead. Isac Mendoza chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI, while Kaden Healy also contributed offensively, going 1-for-1 with a double, scoring twice after reaching base.
Max Silicani and Josh Krasnesky each recorded key hits, with Silicani's RBI single fueling the third-inning surge.
On the mound, Caleb Voelker took the bulk of the innings for CCSF, throwing 6 innings and allowing 5 earned runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts. But defensive miscues proved costly for the Rams, as CCSF was charged with five errors, which extended several Napa Valley innings and contributed to the Storm's comeback.
The loss dropped CCSF to 0-2 on the season. The Rams are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 28) when they host College of the Siskiyous in a non-conference game at San Francisco State University's Maloney Field.
